A Walk in the Woods

I needed 4 good pictures for my photography class and very badly needed to clear my head.  Yesterday was a beautiful day so I decided to take a walk, pulled on my muck boots, grabbed my camera and headed off to the woods.

We had discovered these old trucks a few years ago while riding our bikes, I thought they would make good subjects so I wanted to find them again, and I thought I might find something else interesting along the way.

These are the results of my adventure; I’ll be continuing my search for those 4 good pictures but I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed getting them.

This is my beautiful sister in law Pam.  She was brave enough to come over and let me experiment, using her as the subject, with my portrait techniques.  Pam has bright blue eyes, creamy skin and her smile lights up her face plus it was a good excuse to spend some time together.  It’s always fun spending time with Pam!

Old Nickel

Old Nickel

My husband Brad was given this 1946 nickel as change at the local grocery; we wondered how any hands it has passed through before coming to us. I thought it would make a good subject for my macro photography project.

Hello world!

I’ve wanted to be a photographer for as long as I can remember. I would look through all sorts of coffee table books mesmerized by the stories I imagined were behind each photo.  I never had a good quality camera and my pictures were just average at best so over the years I sort of lost interest.  Last year my sister Sharon challenged me to posting a picture a day on Facebook, which renewed my long dormant interest in photography.   My husband gave me my first DSLR camera, a Nikon D7000, for my last birthday.   My hope for this blog is to tell the story of my time spent with my camera and I hope you enjoy it.
